Ruins Of The Tomb Of Bibi Maryam and the underground reservoir In Qalhat Near Sur In Oman

Description:

When the explorer Ibn Battuta visited Qalhat in 1333 ad it was a flourishing city.

Now only ruins like this one of the tomb of the holy woman Bibi Maryam remain.

Photo Comments:

Lots of people seem to like photos of Oman and Oman is certainly one of my favourite photo places.

I took this photograph in Qalhat and decided that a panoramic format would suit my objective to convey both the tomb itself and the cover of the underground reservoir while at the same time suggesting the wide open space of the Omani landscape.

One approach I have taken for panorama making is to shoot on my Bronica square medium format cameras and select a panorama format.

The waist level screen is ideal for the job and makes composition a breeze.

To get the composition exactly right I finally placed the camera on my Slick tripod and used a cable release to counteract any vibrations.
