Hi Stephen

Not sure about the camera part - but the really important thing is to have good lenses and Canon 100 Macro is one of the best

I like it, how I wish to have one. This is the kind of camera that I've been longing for.

Welcome to my site. The 100 macro is so versatile as a portrait lens and then in macro mode. Trouble is that the whole world comes to life and everything around you becomes fascinating. It's addictive. Let me know how you get on. you didn't say if yours is a Canon - most macro lenses are good but they do have different characteristics.

I just bought a 100mm millimeter macro lens. I am practicing to use it or the best view where I can use it. I will bookmark this page for future reference. I know I'll find some answers on this site.

Hi TJ McDowell
At least I've got that now. Just shows that wedding photography or macro is all part of the fun of photography. I've bookmarked your site for the moment hope to get the feed later. At least it made me get my gravatar sorted!

That makes sense - focusing in macro would probably be completely different. Sorry about not having an rss feed link on the site. I'm still learning the whole Wordpress world. Thanks for the comment back on my site!!!

Hi Larissa

You're absolutely right - I think for a lot of wedding photography auto focus is probably a godsend. My comments on manual focus were, I think, related to macro photograhy. You really can't rely on autofocus to pick out a dragonfly's eye even if the focus spot is in exactly the the right place. Also focussing is a bit misleading the usual technique is to set the lens to the required magnification and then move yourself backwards and forwards. By the way have I missed an RSS feed on your site?

We are a big fan of manual mode for exposure and flash, but we haven't really tried manual focus. I think I'd miss quite a bit on the fly.

Well, if you're a Canon user I'd advise sticking to the Canon brand for macro lenses. I agree with you that close up shots are fascinating
